Lymphatic massage (drainage)

First, the lymph, what is it?

The lymph is a transparent liquid that circulates throughout the body through a network of small vessels, the lymphatic system. It is a cleaning network: it recovers excess fluid between cells, transports waste through lymph nodes — real filters — Then bring them back into the bloodstream. Lymph and lymph nodes are also the seat of immunity.

Unlike blood, the lymph is not pumped by the heart: it circulates through body movements, breathing and muscle contractions. Our modern lifestyles — stress, sedentary, prolonged sitting position — promote its stagnation.

Drainage is what?

Through gentle, rhythmic and specific maneuvers, drainage stimulates the circulation of the lymph to promote the evacuation of excess liquid into the tissues. The result is a feeling of lightness, freshness, decreased swelling and re-circulation.
